There is a particular quiet at the start of a week when you notice, without meaning to, who is in your inbox and who is not.
Not as an accusation. As information.
Some names are still there. Some are not. Both are true, and both matter.
The Moon this week is waning through Taurus. She has moved past the fullness of last week's Aries peak, and Taurus is the sign of what has ground. What lasts. What can be trusted to still be there in the morning.
The sky is asking a quieter question than it was a few days ago. Not what is rising. What is rooted.
I Can't Stay Silent About This Anymore...
For the past few days, I’ve received some rather worrying complaints from a few of my readers…
All concerning my latest discovery, The 7-Minute Brain Song.
My long-time reader, Shannon, said she felt uneasy when she remembered all of the beach trips she took with her girlfriends in her 20s.
Another, Wendy, said she wasn’t sure what to do when she felt alert, clear-headed, and ready for the day one morning.
And finally, Ginny, said she felt ‘lost’ when she finished the book that had been sitting on her nightstand for months in only eight days.
I take complaints like this very seriously.
Like my father always told me, “Win like a man, lose like a man.”
So allow me to make myself perfectly clear:
If you are, in any way whatsoever, NOT interested in using the latest neuroscience to strengthen your memory and boost your brain power…
Then please click away from any future Brain Song email.
However… If you ARE interested in these sorts of things:
What Becoming Actually Asks Of A Friendship
Becoming is rarely clean. It does not announce itself in advance. You do not send an email letting people know you are about to change the terms of who you are.
It just happens. Slowly, mostly. And in the process, the agreements you had with certain people begin to shift, whether or not any of you have named them.
Some of those agreements were unspoken but load-bearing. That you would stay small in a particular way. That you would keep laughing at a particular kind of joke. That you would keep needing what you used to need, and not need what you have started to.
A friendship that was built on the older version of you is not automatically able to hold the newer one. That is not betrayal. That is architecture.
Some structures can be renovated. Some cannot. The Taurus Moon is not sentimental about this. She notices what is still standing after the winds have passed, and does not pretend the ones that fell were the same as the ones that held.
A Defense Researcher Leaked The Pineal Activation Method
The method was developed inside a defense research program in the 1970s.
The original goal was remote viewing for intelligence work.
What the researchers stumbled onto was something bigger. A 3 second activation technique that opens the pineal gland and grants something close to financial clairvoyance.
The program was shut down on paper. The technique stayed in use among a small group with the right connections.
Hedge fund founders. Family office heirs. Two former heads of state.
A retired researcher leaked the method last year. He's in his 80s and said he didn't want to die holding it.
The activation takes 3 seconds. The effects begin within a single night.
People describe the same sequence. A loosening behind the eyes. Sudden clarity around money decisions. Opportunities arriving from directions they didn't know to look.
The researcher said it himself. The wealthy have been using this for 50 years. The rest of us are 50 years late.
The Ones Who Could Not Come
There is a specific grief for friendships that ended without a rupture. No fight. No line crossed. Just a slow, mutual fading that neither of you fully authored.
You did not decide to stop calling. Neither did they. The distance grew the way weather changes, without needing anyone's permission.
Sometimes there was a moment where you noticed. A birthday that came and went without contact. A visit to their city where you did not tell them you were there. A message you drafted and did not send, and then forgot you had drafted.
Some of these friendships tried and could not. Some did not try, and that is also information you get to hold. Both versions can be true without turning either of you into a villain.
Not everyone was meant for every version of you. This is one of the harder truths adulthood asks you to accept without turning it into a story about your worth or theirs.
The Ones Who Watched You Change And Did Not Leave
Then there are the ones who watched you change and did not leave.
This is not passive. This is not automatic. This is one of the quieter miracles of an adult life, and it is often the one we forget to name.
They did not stay because you were always the same. They stayed because they made room for you to become someone slightly different, and they did the private work of updating their picture of you without asking you to explain the changes.
Many of us come from lines of people for whom friendships were disposable, or where the only loyalty that counted was family. Our parents or grandparents often did not have the room to sustain adult friendships across decades. The moves, the survival, the exhaustion, made it hard for those bonds to hold.
You may be the first in your line who has the space to keep a friend for twenty or thirty years and let them see you become several different people across that time. That is not a small inheritance to receive. It is not a small one to build, either.
The waning gibbous Moon in Taurus is a good sky to notice what is still there. Not to grieve what is not. Just to notice, quietly, whose name has been in your life long enough to have seen more than one version of you, and to feel something warmer than nostalgia toward the fact of it.
If there is a question worth carrying with you into this week, it might be this. Who has watched you become someone slightly different this year, and did not leave, and when was the last time you told them, in some small way, that you noticed.
